As Australia enters the new financial year the transition process from the old Motor Vehicle Standards Act (MVSA) to the Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA) is now complete
Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) says that it acknowledges there are still outstanding operational issues with the new ROVER system, and policy settings in the RVSA rules are still not optimal for the heavy vehicle industry.
As part of the discussions during the transition period, the Department of Infrastructure committed to conducting a post-implementation review.
HVIA says it is keen to engage members in this review to ensure it gets the best result for the industry.
In light of this, HVIA has invited Melissa Cashman, head of the Vehicle Safety Policy and Partnerships Branch of the Department, to present at the next round of HVIA State Committee meetings.
Cashman will discuss the Department’s plans for the review and how HVIA members can best have your views heard.

The association has also warned that for members who produce Special Purpose Vehicles to note that the ADR requirements on SPV’s are also changing on July 1 and they should check the guidance material on SPVs to ensure their vehicles remain compliant.
