HVIA wants to hear from the industry as it prepares its submission for the freight and supply chain strategy review
Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) has called for members to provide feedback and thoughts on the upcoming Freight and Supply Chain Strategy review.
The Australian National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy is a national framework set to position Australia to meet growing freight needs.
The current strategy, which was published in 2019, was agreed to by governments with input from the transport industry.
The strategy was originally meant to be reviewed in 2024, yet infrastructure and transport ministers around Australia agreed to bring it forward a year to ensure the strategy remains fit-for-purpose.
HVIA is preparing a formal response to the strategy on behalf of all HVIA members and is looking to collate feedback from members.
It’s predicted that Australia’s domestic freight task will grow by 26 per cent between 2020 and 2050, with supply chain challenges arising around this change.
With COVID-19, extreme weather and severe skills shortages also adding to the challenges surrounding the industry, the review will look into how to adapt to this new state of play.
HVIA says feedback is due back to the body before September 27, with HVIA to submit its formal response before September 29.
