HVIA announces ROVER Release 8A and RAV outage

The HVIA says its ROVER system will have an outage before it releases its latest model

The Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) says its ROVER system will be unavailable from 4PM AEDT on Friday October 28 until 9AM AEDT Tuesday November 1 as the IT team works on deploying the next major release.

HVIA says ROVER Release 8A is expected to go live on November 1, subject to system testing being completed successfully.

The Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) will be unavailable from 12 pm AEDT on Friday 28 October 2022 to 9 am AEDT on Tuesday 1 November 2022. However, vehicles entered on the RAV before 12 pm AEDT on Friday 28 October can still be searched on the RAV.

The HVIA is encouraging people to join the department at 1PM AEDT on Wednesday October 26 for a demonstration of the new ROVER functionality, including performance improvements for applications with large amounts of data, reporting safely and non-compliance concerns, and adding customisable billing details.

The body says there’s no need to RSVP as the demonstration will be hosted on Microsoft Teams – head to the HVIA website for the link.

This release focuses on improved reporting capability and performance improvements for applications, especially those with large amounts of data.

The HVIA says the new ROVER system can vary an approval and send notification emails, as well as ensure Road Vehicle Descriptors (RVDs) are added via an improved form that enables the ability to name subcomponents and systems while specifying the typical Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for variants.

The updated program also includes:

  • Design and manufacturing facilities: Design and manufacturing facilities in an application will be provided in an improved table that can be sorted. You can also edit and remove facilities from the table.
  • Vehicle safety and non-compliance reporting: Users will have the ability to submit vehicle safety and non-compliance reports via ROVER.
  • Customisable billing details and invoices: Users with the relevant access will have the ability to add a payment contact and a billing address. They can also add their own information to invoices (e.g. a purchase order number).
  • Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) batch details: A RAV icon will be added to the dashboard. Here, RAV submitters will be able to manage RAV submitter permissions, and search and export details of their RAV batches to support their business processes.
  • Authorised vehicle verifier (AVV) icon: The AVVs tab in ROVER will be replaced with an AVV icon in the dashboard.
