Hunter Valley policing blitz results in over 70 infringements

A week-long police operation conducted west of Newcastle has seen a total of 73 infringements handed to drivers

A police operation targeting dangerous driving in NSW’s Hunter Valley last week has ended with a total of over 70 traffic infringement notices issued.

The Newcastle-Hunter Highway Patrol with assistance from the Hunter Valley Police District, Northern Region and Dog Unit and Police Rescue conducted the operation to target antisocial behaviour and dangerous driving near the Cessnock area, approximately 50km west of Newcastle.

103 random breath tests and one random drug test were conducted.

73 infringement notices, 23 defect notices and two licence suspensions were issued over the course of the operation to a range of vehicle types for various offences.

Newcastle-Hunter Highway Patrol Acting Inspector Glenn Swift says operations like this will continue to be undertaken to ensure safe road use in the area.

“Reckless driving and dangerous vehicles on our roads will not be tolerated,” Swift says.

“We will continue to conduct operations aimed at targeting those who endanger public safety.”
