Hino Motors is gearing up to present a range of its next-generation products at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show, in Tokyo from October 30 to November 9, 2025.
On display will be the Hino Profia Z FCV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) which will be Japan’s first mass-produced heavy-duty commercial fuel cell vehicle when it is released on October 24.
Known as the 700 Series in Australia, the truck is capable of a loaded driving range of approximately 650 kilometres, and fast hydrogen refuelling takes between 15 to 30 minutes.
The Profia Z FCV on display will be equipped with the Level 4 autonomous driving feature, meaning the heavy-duty truck is capable of full driverless operation under specific conditions.
The Hino stand will also feature the latest model of the Hino Dutro (300 Series) Z EV light-duty truck, which is scheduled for release in mid-2026.
“The ultra-low floor and walk-through layout of the Dutro Z EV have proven popular with customers since its release in June 2022, and the new model will feature larger battery capacity that will increase the distance between charges,” Hino Australia department manager of product strategy Daniel Petrovski says.
Currently, the Dutro Z EV is undergoing trials in Australia to determine its operational suitability for the unique Australian market requirements.
Of particular interest to the Australian truck market will be the first public exhibition of the updated Hino Ranger (or 500 Series) medium-duty truck at the Japan Mobility Show.
“The 500 Series Standard Cab is a proven solution in the Australian market and we look forward to the Euro 6-compliant version in Australia in mid-2026,” Petrovski says.
The Hino stand will also feature Hino Team Sugawara’s Dakar Rally “Little Monster” race truck from 2019, which is based on the Hino Ranger (500 Series) medium-duty truck.
“Successfully completing 34 gruelling Dakar Rallies demonstrates the QDR (Quality, Durability and Reliability) that Hino is renowned for,” he says.
Another vehicle on display will be the “Poncho dot” concept vehicle which is based on the Hino Dutro Z EV – its compact size aides drivability, and its unique layout means it’s capable of transporting both people and goods together.
Outside the main exhibition hall, show-goers will also be able to see other unique applications of the Hino Dutro Z EV including a mobile office.
