Hino Australia is celebrating the sale of its 150,000th truck, in what is the company’s 60th year of operation in the country.

Delivery has been taken of the brand-new Hino 500 Series FE Standard Cab with Mini-Mix concrete agitator, and is one of 45 Hino trucks in the Flinstones fleet.

The manufacturer has emerged as one of Australia’s go-to truck companies for light and medium-duty and sold a total of 241 vehicles in January 2025 alone according to the Truck Industry Council (TIC).

125 of those were in the medium-duty category, where it sits behind Isuzu in sales, while the 60 light-duty truck sales sees it level with Fiat and behind Fuso and Isuzu in the category.

Overall, according to the TIC, only Isuzu sold more vehicles than Hino in the opening month of 2025.

President and CEO of Hino Australia Richard Emery was there to aid in the handover of the historic truck.

“It is phenomenal to think we have been supplying trucks to Flinstones for over forty of the 60 years we have been operating in Australia,” Emery says.

“Hino Australia is honoured to have been the truck of choice for Flinstones for over four decades.

“It is a tribute to the quality, durability and reliability for which Hino trucks are renowned, and we look forward to the relationship continuing for many years to come.”

Flinstones is a subsidiary of Barro Group, which is a leading independent supplier and distributor of premixed concrete, quarry products and a range of associated products.

General Manager of Flinstones Building & Garden Supplies Dominic Barro says the milestone truck is the latest acquisition in a long relationship with the manufacturer.

“Hino has always been our preferred supplier of small and medium sized trucks,” Barro says.

“Our tippers transport between 2 to 14 cubic metres of raw materials such as crushed rock, sand, soil and mulch while our Mini-Mix concrete agitators carry between 0.4 and 3 cubic metres of premixed concrete.”

“We use our tilt trays including crane tray trucks for delivery of concreting supplies such as reinforcing mesh.

“In our business, it is essential that we have a robust, reliable truck that is safe and simple to operate, and Hino has proven this for over four decades.”

The 150,000th truck was delivered by Angelo Valerio, Dealer Principal of Bendigo Hino.
