Hino launches automatic dump truck that can be driven on car licence in what is an Australian first
March 9, 2010
Hino has launched a fully automatic dump truck that can be driven on a regular car licence in what is an Australian first.
Available as either a 4495kg GVM (about 1.7 tonnes payload) or 5500kg GVM (about 2.7 tonnes payload), the dump truck uses the popular 300 Series light duty cab.
Only the latter requires a light rigd truck licence.
The Hino 614 Automatic Dump has a narrow cab with airconditioning, a 100kW engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, while the safety equipment includes a driver’s SRS airbag and ABS brakes with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) as standard equipment.
The automatic transmission features include fuel-saving torque converter lock-up in five ratios – from second to sixth gear, while its learning characteristics can comfortably adapt to the driving style of the driver.
The automatic transmission also electronically switches the transmission to neutral when the truck is stationary and the brakes are applied, reducing engine and drivetrain load and cutting fuel consumption.
The new Hino 300 Series 614 Automatic Dump is suitable for landscapers, pool builders, rental companies, builders, plumbers and tradespersons.
