Hino announces its 2025 national skills champions

Big news for Hino dealers and their teams across Australia

When it comes to keeping fleets on the road the quality of the trucks and support systems in place are a major factor in success.

The team at Hino Australia keeps its sales, parts and tech teams finely tuned with an annual competition designed to celebrate the best of the best and promote the sort of behaviours that will keep customers coming back for more.

This year’s round of Hino Australia National Skills Champions have been announced with Graham Reynolds (Wagga Trucks), Admir Music (Prestige Hino) and John Delahay (Sci-Fleet Hino Brisbane) winning the Parts, Service and Sales titles respectively.

Eighteen finalists from around the country competed in the final, which was held at Hino Australia’s Sydney headquarters on November 13, following four months of qualifying rounds.

“One of the longest-running events of its kind in the industry, the National Skills contest demonstrates Hino Australia’s dedication to continually enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of our dealership teams,” says Richard Emery, President and CEO of Hino Australia.

Sales consultants showcased their knowledge and skills in a 700 Series role play scenario, followed by a tailored TrailerWIN task assessment and concluded the day with a sales mastermind quiz.

The service technicians were put through their paces with a series of practical assessments that tested their diagnostic and technical skills on the entire model range.

For the parts crew, it was about demonstrating their capabilities through a customer-focused role play scenario, followed by a live parts assessment. For the first time, they also took part in a mastermind quiz.

“The Skills Contest provides us with a platform to test and recognise the expertise and dedication of our people while delivering a clear benefit to our customers through increased technical knowledge and skills,” Emery says.

“It is also key in our ability to attract and retain a workforce of skilled and dedicated parts, sales and service professionals throughout the country.

“The hard work and dedication of our team resulted in global recognition earlier in the year when we received our 17th consecutive Parts Department of the Year Award and the 14th successive Service Department of the Year Award.”

Each Skills Champion receives a cash reward and an expenses-paid trip to Japan.
