Road workers will be out in force in western Victoria over the coming months bringing the Henty Highway at Kewell, near Horsham, back up to scratch.
A 7-kilometre stretch of the highway has been targeted for rehabilitation this year, between Old Minyip Road and Barrat Road.
Works will include rebuilding and repairing the road to strengthen the surface.
Victorian Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne says the works will support the local industries.
“These works will ensure out road freight and farming network continues to operate safely and efficiently across the network,” Horne says.
“That’s why we’re investing in maintaining our regional roads across the state, including delivering these upgrades on the Henty Highway.”
The Henty Highway links Lascelles in the Wimmera region of Victoria to Portland on the state’s south-west coast.
The works are part of the Victorian government’s $976 million Better Roads Blitz which the transport department says is focused on high-traffic corridors and key freight routes, including vital roads that connect communities across western Victoria.
