Hella sees the light with Kuka

Melbourne-based manufacturer chooses Kuka robots for automation project

June 12, 2012

Melbourne-based manufacturer Hella has chosen Kuka robots for its automation project.

The automotive lighting company has an impressive manufacturing facility with some of the highest quality equipment on the market.

But when Hella required further efficiency from its robot-based operation it looked to German robot manufacturer KUKA, supplied by Headland Machinery.

Hella’s two robotic systems were developed by the company’s in-house engineering team, basing much of its progress on refining existing automation and design to increase production efficiency.

Hella also designs its own manufacturing cells.

The KUKA KR60L45 shelf-mounted robots are installed above Hella’s injection moulding machines to remove moulded parts and carry out the post moulding process while
other parts are being made.

Working with Headland Machinery’s Robot Integrators maximum efficiency is achieved in every way.
