Have your say on the health of supply chain workplaces

Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds has joined forces with SuperFriend and GT Insurance to launch the Thriving Workplace Index survey

Members of Australia’s transport, postal and warehousing industries have the opportunity to share their experiences and provide real data to help improve workplace health in the sector.

With transport and logistics consistently ranked the lowest of 19 industries for mental health and wellbeing in the SuperFriend’s Indicators of a Thriving Workplace data, a decision was made last year to dig deeper and find out what might be done to improve the rating.

The result is the launch of an industry-specific Thriving Workplace Index (TWI) survey, backed by Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds (Healthy Heads), SuperFriend, and GT Insurance.

It stems from an industry think tank meeting held in October 2025, which identified long hours, heavy workloads, isolation, unclear roles, higher exposure to trauma, and limited management support, as issues contributing to stress, burnout, and high rates of turnover.

That meeting concluded with a clear call for stronger data, improved connection, capable leadership, and tailored mental health support.

SuperFriend chief mental health adviser Dr Natalie Flatt says the TWI survey is about listening and turning insights into action.

“The transport, postal and warehousing sector operates in demanding conditions, with many different challenges, both physical and mental,” Dr Flatt says.

“By gathering further insights, we can better understand what’s working, what’s not, and develop targeted, evidence-based solutions.”

For GT Insurance general manager of Strategic Enablement Shelagh Bock the survey is a way of improving workplace safety and making sure people are heard.

“Mental health is a critical component of workplace safety, particularly in sectors where people operate under sustained pressure,” Bock says.

“This survey ensures industry perspectives are heard, and future initiatives are informed by robust data.”

Healthy Heads general manager Melissa Weller says the survey takes around seven minutes and she would encourage everyone working in the sector to take the time to share their thoughts.

“This is a chance for everyone to have their say, including drivers, business owners, people working in sheds, supervisors and leadership,” Weller says.

To support engagement with the promotion, a marketing kit has been made available to help all stakeholders across the industry promote easy access to the survey, and is ready for download now on the Healthy Heads website via the resource library.
