Have your say on the future of Central West and Orana transport

NSW residents are invited to shape the draft Central West and Orana transport plan, with 19 drop-in sessions scheduled across the region through November and December.

Communities across the Central West and Orana are being asked to help shape the region’s long-term transport future, with the NSW Government launching a six-week consultation on the draft Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan.

The draft plan outlines a long-term vision for safer, more reliable and better-connected services that support a growing population. The Central West and Orana region is expected to grow by 11 per cent by 2041, increasing demand on the road and public transport network.

Residents invited to attend 19 drop-in sessions

To support the consultation, Transport for NSW will host public drop-in sessions across all 19 local government areas covered by the draft plan, as well as the neighbouring Blue Mountains Council.

Transport for NSW Acting Executive Director, Partnerships and Integration, West Holly Davies, says community feedback is essential to ensuring the plan reflects the region’s needs.

“The draft SRITP is an important document looking at the future of transport across the Central West and Orana region,” Davies says. “We listened to stakeholders and the community when developing the draft, and now we want feedback from the people who use these roads and services every day.”

Davies says strong community input will help shape decisions about which upgrades and service improvements are prioritised.

Consultation sessions across the region

Drop-in sessions will be held throughout November and December at locations including Coonamble, Dubbo, Forbes, Bathurst, Orange, Lithgow, Parkes and Mudgee.

Times and locations vary, with sessions held in libraries, shopping centres, and community hubs to ensure residents across the region can participate. Copies of the draft plan are available online and at local libraries.

How to provide feedback

Submissions are open until midnight on Sunday, 14 December, and can be submitted through the Have Your Say website, via email or by post.

All feedback will help refine the final Central West and Orana SRITP, scheduled for release in 2026. The plan is one of nine regional transport plans being developed to improve safety, reliability and connectivity across regional NSW.
