Coal seam gas (CSG) firm Origin Energy and its Australia Pacific LNG Project partners undertook careful planning and extensive consultation leading up to the launch CSG Logistics Safety Code of Practice, according to Origin Upstream CEO Paul Zealand.
Origin and the Australian Logistics Council (ALC) jointly announced the issuing of the code’s first licence late last week.
“The CSG Logistics Safety Code of Practice was developed over the past 12 months in collaboration with the major proponents of CSG projects in Queensland and the Australian Logistics Council,” Zealand says.
“Extensive consultation was undertaken throughout the Phase 1 upstream project team regarding the new CSG Logistics Safety Code of Practice.
“This included briefing of all project managers and health, safety, security and environment team leaders, plus general awareness raising activity among contractors and subcontractors involved in this part of the project.
“The code is designed to ensure all participants, employees, contractors and sub-contractors alike are aware of their responsibilities in the supply chain where they control or influence the safe and legal carriage of freight.
“The development and implementation of this code is part of the commitment made by Australia Pacific LNG to develop plans to reduce the risk of accidents to employees and other roads users as a result of our project transport activities.”
On the recruitment of former ALC Program Director Ian Ross, Origin says his selection was based on “30 odd years’ experience in the field of transport logistics”.
“Ian Ross is part of the Origin team responsible for implementing the Code for Australia Pacific LNG’s Upstream Phase 1 Project,” a spokeswoman adds.
“Ian was selected from a field of applicants for the advertised role of Transport Compliance Manager for the Australia Pacific LNG Project’s Upstream heavy vehicle land transport,” a spokeswoman says.
