Intermec says it has a cost-effective solution to installing the right equipment to join the Intelligent Access Program (IAP)
Intermec partner Transtech Driven has been officially certified as an IAP Service Provider, making it one of only two organisations to achieve such certification.
Transtech Driven claims it is the first to couple IAP certification with advanced driver fatigue management, as well as other rich transport fleet and goods tracking applications.
The Intelligence Access Program (IAP) allows transport operators to gain greater heavy vehicle access to Australia’s road network, in return for government monitored compliance with agreed access conditions by an IAP service provider.
“We have been involved with the genesis of IAP over many years, and decided to seek IAP certification to continue to offer our customers the full range of transport technology solutions,” says Transtech Driven CEO Shaun Owen.
“We see the IAP as part of the future for companies wanting safe and efficient operations.”
Owen says many transport operators have expressed concerns over the costs of installing the IAP in-vehicle unit (IVU) and operation-wide compliant hardware.
But operators already using Intermec technology within their transport and logistics operations can rest easy, he says, knowing the IVU is already fully compliant with the Intermec CN3, which is claimed to halve the cost of installing IAP technology in the near future.
Intermec ISV Channel Manager Paul Weiss says the company is proud of Transtech for its proactive pursuit of IAP certification.
“With the IVU in the vehicle, together with hand-held devices such as the Intermec CN3, Transtech is able to offer complete transportation solutions and provide substantial financial benefits for many transport operators requiring both compliance as well as their own transport management services for supply chain visibility,” he says.
“The IAP, together with applications on the CN3, provides vital and complementary information for fleet and goods tracking.”
The Intermec CN3 is a fully IAP-compatible mobile computer, and is ideally suited for all areas of large-scale transport and logistics operations.
Intermec says the CN3 is the first rugged handheld to operate on Windows Mobile 6.1. Combined with Windows Mobile 6.1 the unit offers users advanced features including enhanced virtual memory, increased application speed and faster boot-up times to maximise business operations.
The operating system also boasts an improved user interface with increased performance and stability.
