GTSN releases advice publication after 18 months’ development
A Grain Transport Safety Network (GTSN) effort to promote safety and compliance in the sector has reached fruition with the publishing of its free GTSN Truck Book.
GTSN aims for the publication to help ensure that trucks are loaded within legal mass limits reducing the public risks from excessively loaded or excessively large heavy vehicles on our roads.
“The Truck Book is a tremendous effort by all GTSN members and will be a great tool for the industry,” Viterra logistics and supply chain manager and GTSN chair Derek Robjohns says.

The purpose of the GTSN Truck Book, publication of which follows 18 months of development, is to guide loaders and unloaders, transport operators and drivers to accurately identify the mass requirements applying to bulk grain trucks.
GTSN expects it will also be helpful for other bulk commodities transported by bulk tipper trucks.
There are 84 truck types identified in the Truck Book plus technical information to guide users.
The GTSN acknowledges contributions to the development of the Truck Book from: Emerald Grain; GrainCorp; Viterra; Ridley; Cargill; Quattro Ports; and Mauri; with the support of Supply Chain Safety Excellence.
The GTSN is a collaborative network of grain industry supply chain participants including loaders and unloaders of grain, freight providers, customers, growers and the government/statutory authorities.
