Freightways bolsters documents arm with LitSupport buy

Cashed-up Kiwi firm gains legal services presence in major Australian cities

New Zealand express packages and information management firm Freightways has broadened its Australian footprint by buying local legal document firm LitSupport.

The A$17.1 million purchase price may lead to an extra payment of up to A$12.9 million if its 2017 financial year performance is good enough.

“This acquisition is consistent with Freightways’ strategy to develop growth opportunities that complement its existing capabilities,” managing director Dean Bracewell says.

At its annual shareholders meeting in October, Freightways announced a record first quarter result, backing-up its earlier announcement in August of a record full year result.

Developed out of express package industry pioneer New Zealand Couriers, it has a national presence in NZ.

LitSupport gives it a network of offices in the Australian metropolitan capitals of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, with offerings including:

  • electronic document services − litigation support, data hosting, objective coding, electronic materials processing (ESI processing), forensic data services
  • bureau services − photocopying, scanning, printing, onsite court copying / uplifting of subpoenaed documents, preparation of court and appeal books and ESI processing
  • other services − general printing, copying and scanning services to government departments, financial services institutions and other corporate and commercial organisations.
