Freight executive joins Northline’s ranks

Eyeing growth, transport operator Northline appoints Rene Pamount as its general manager of sales

July 31, 2012

Transport operator Northline has added a senior freight executive to its ranks as the company focuses on growing its customer base.

The Melbourne-based Rene Pamount will take up the role of general manager of sales. He comes from an express freight background with more than 20 years in the transport game.

Pamount will lead Northline’s business development teams throughout Australia, and CEO Craige Whitton says Pamount’s Melbourne base will help increase the company’s presence on the east coast.

“Northline already has the jump on some of the bulk carriers because we track deliveries by item in real time rather than by consignment note,” Pamount says.

“With the changes in the industry, I think Northline has a chance to be a big player in the bulk pallet business, plus its considerable warehousing and distribution capabilities.”

The privately-owned Northline is noted for long-haul services covering the Northern Territory, Western Australia and far north Queensland. The business employs about 400 people and provides freight, warehousing and international freight services.
