Fox scoops awards at Smart Conference

Trucking industry icon Lindsay Fox recognised at this year's Smart Awards for commitment to supply chain logistics

Trucking industry icon Lindsay Fox has been recognised at this year’s Smart Awards for his commitment to supply chain logistics.

The founder of Linfox received the Outstanding Contribution to Supply Chain Management in Australia award this week for his contribution to the industry and his ongoing leadership role in the transport and logistics sector.

The accolade adds to a host of previous awards, which include the Centenary Medal in 2001 and a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2008.

“Lindsay Fox AC has revolutionised the supply chain industry in Australia and the region during his 50 years in the business,” Smart Awards Chairman Len Harper says.

Linfox Logistics was recognised with the Award for Transport and Logistics, while the Queensland Main Roads department received the Manufacturing Supply Chains award.

“The quality overall of the entries we received this year was exceptional,” Harper says.

The ceremony, which was held at the Sydney Convention Centre, also recognised Coca-Cola, Santos and the Hunter Valley Coal Chain team.

The soft drink manufacturer was handed the Supply Chain Management award, while Santos took home a gong for its procurement practices.

The Hunter Valley Coal Chain team was recognised with the Supply Chain Innovation in NSW award.

The awards ceremony capped off the 2009 Smart Conference, which brought together Australia’s leading supply chain logistics leaders to provide advice on sustainable practices and growing a business during the economic downturn.
