The first Australian-built Volvo FH16 780 XXL prime mover has rolled of Volvo Group Australia’s Wacol production line and is set to be delivered to NSW company SRH Milk Haulage.

The vehicle features the most powerful truck engine in Australia, the D17 780, and new features including a Crawler Gear equipped with new generation I-Shift transmission and Volvo Dynamic Steering with Pilot Assist.

It will be put to work pulling an A-Double tanker combination between sites on the NSW Central and Northern Coasts.

SRH’s Scott, Regina and Mitchell Harvey were on site at the Wacol production facility to mark the completion of construction.

“Our company has had a long history with Volvo Trucks,” Scott says. “Knowing these trucks have been engineered and built locally for Australian conditions really makes a difference to us.

“We operate across three states 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so uptime and productivity are vital for us. Milk isn’t something you can leave sitting on the side of the road!”

“We’re really excited to see this truck join our fleet, and I’m pretty sure our drivers will be as well.”

Vice President of Volvo Trucks Australia Tom Chapman says he’s happy to see the first-of-its-kind truck join the SRH fleet.

“Scott and Regina are more than customers to us … they’re family,” Chapman says.

“It’s been a privilege to see SRH go from strength to strength. I’m delighted to see this very special truck join the SRH fleet.

“I’m sure this truck will make short work of hauling an 85-ton combination up and down the Pacific Highway.”
