FedEx has revealed who will be part of the 10-member board of directors on its new freight spin-off.
On June 1, FedEx freight will separate from FedEx to create its own operations, with more board members now joining current chairman of the board and FedEx Corp board of directors executive director R. Brad Martin.
John Smith, the incoming president and CEO of FedEx freight, will also serve as a director, with eight other experienced transport, logistics and supply chain management leaders joining the board.
These include experienced financial officer Jeffrey Davis, who has served at Dollar Tree, J.C. Penney and Walmart, former Lowe’s Companies executive vice president of supply chain Donald Frieson and former Air Methods Corporation CEO Stephen Gorman.
Also part of the 10-member board is FedEx Corp corporate vice president of internal audit Robert King, former Stericycle Inc president and CEO Cindy Miller, former Kyndryl Holdings US president Amy Salcido, former The Progressive Corporation vice president and chief financial officer John Sauerland and current staff director of FedEx Corp global public policy Samantha Smith.
“We’ve assembled a group of prominent industry leaders who share a strong commitment to the customer-first culture that defines FedEx,” Brad Martin says.
“Their diverse perspectives and proven leadership will be instrumental in supporting FedEx Freight as it executes a focused strategy and builds on its position as the largest North American LTL freight carrier with industry-leading transit times, service levels, and reliability.”
John Smith says: “I look forward to working with our incoming directors upon completion of the spin-off, leveraging their experience and perspectives, while continuing to partner with Brad and our leadership team as we progress toward launching a world-class, independent organisation.”
