Due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID restrictions, organisers have made the decision to downsize the 33rd Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show to a one-day event on Sunday, November 28.

Last year the show was initially planned to be an on-line event only, however the easing of restrictions enabled 40 trucks to form a surprise convoy through the Victorian town.

A spokesperson from the Rotary Club of Castlemaine said, following a recent meeting, that it has confirmed its commitment to celebrating the incredible contribution of the trucking industry in yet another challenging year.

"We are so close to overcoming these challenges, however the realities of conducting a large-scale event remains significant.

"A decision has been made to proceed with activities that will not be impacted by last minute changes and the high regulation of patrons."

Despite the odds, a truck convoy is planned to be held for the 2021 event, kicking off at 9am on November 28. This will be followed by a family picnic running from 10am to 2pm where the judging of trucks will take place.

For the second year running, Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show organisers will hold a photo competition, consisting of photos taken during 2021 with a second category open to past and historic photos of significance. The competition closes on October 31.

Similar to last year, selected photographs will take pride of place in the 2022 calendar which will be on sale at Castlemaine on November 28.

A fundraising raffle will again be held, the result being drawn on November 28. Tickets will be available on the day at Castlemaine, as well as online.

Castlemaine Rotary says it is committed to celebrating the trucking industry and raising valuable funds for community projects.
