Freighter Outback trailer on show in Brisbane

Trailer built for heavy loads on tough terrain will be shown at the 2013 Brisbane Truck Show next month

Freighter will display its Outback trailer purpose built for big loads on bad roads at the Brisbane Truck Show next month.

Available as a T-Liner, skel or semi, the unit seen at the Brisbane show will be a drop deck semi with rear ramps and small foldaway ramps from the lower to the upper deck. Freighter says show-goers can expect to see another trailer innovation when they visit the stand.

The company says the trailer is ideal for heavy-duty applications such as hauling mining gear in rural Queensland.

“The mining industry differs from other industries in that it often involves carrying heavy loads off-road or over unsealed roads in poor condition,” Freighter General Manager Rod Cunningham says.

“These factors can often combine to damage or break an ordinary trailer designed for predominantly highway use. Freighter has purpose designed the Outback series of trailers for just this requirement – carrying heavy equipment on terrain of varying quality.”

Cunningham says Freighter sent a team out into the harshest areas of the country to find out what operators need.

“Reinforced mainrails with more cross-members, heavy duty combing rails and heavy duty tow couplings are just some of the features we’ve incorporated to increase durability,” he says.
