The population of the NSW town of Oaklands swelled on March 27 and 28 durihng the Oaklands Truck and Equipment Show.

Oaklands is a tiny dot on the map in the Riverina, NSW. It has no banks, one pub, and only 250 residents.
But the population swelled on March 27 and 28 during the second Oaklands Truck and Equipment Show which attracted 50 trucks and 300 people.
The event began with a barbecue and live entertainment on Saturday, followed by a truck show on Sunday.
Finley livestock transporter Craig Congram took home the Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice awards with his 2007 Kenworth T904 which features a Man from Snowy River mural.
Accepting the award, Craig said the Oaklands Truck Show stands out from other shows because of the friendly atmosphere: “I hope it keeps going and gets better and better.”
Other winners were Days Freightlines (Entrants’ Choice), Gattuso Transport (Best Over 5 Years), Robbie Summons (Best Under 5 Years), Days Freightlines (Fleet) and Elon Smith (Car).
The truck show was organised by the Oaklands Lions Club with help from other local clubs and residents. Plans for the next show in March 2011 are already underway. It is likely to become an annual event.
