Esteves to swap Kings for NT Worksafe

Kings man will oversee agency that’s fresh from best practice review

Senior Kings Transport executive Bill Esteves is to be the new senior director of NT WorkSafe, the Northern Territory government reveals.

He will arrive at NT WorkSafe as the agency works through the recommendations from a six-month independent best practice review, starting his new position on June 10, pending successful relocation and meeting quarantine requirements.

“We welcome Mr Esteves to the Northern Territory to fill what is an important role within the Department of Attorney-General and Justice,” NT attorney-general Natasha Fyles says.

“Mr Esteves joins NT WorkSafe at an important time as we implement the recommendations from last year’s review into making the NT a safer place to work.

“Territorians deserve to be able to return safely from work each day and Mr Esteves will be pivotal in ensuring we meet that objective.”

An extensive national search has led to the appointment of Kings’ chief transformation officer & group general manager HSEQ.

“Mr Esteves takes on the Territory’s top work health and safety position with close to 20 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors in areas related to health and safety, regulatory compliance and prosecutions,” the government says.

“With a demonstrated record of successfully leading cultural change, and improving business performance within dynamic regulatory, commercial and stakeholder environments, Mr Esteves is an experienced executive.

“Previously, Mr Esteves led many milestone projects including Queensland’s Greyhound Commission of Inquiry, and Queensland’s Independent Review of the Taxi Industry in response to disruption from Uber.”
