Upgrade separates heavy vehicles and rail freight at Esperance Port.
Improvements to Esperance Port in Western Australia to improve freight access have been completed.
The $120 million investment altered the port’s landscape to make it easier for rail freight and heavy vehicles operators to access the port.
“The upgrade redefined access to the port by removing level crossings and building new access roads to safely separate heavy vehicles and rail freight,” federal Infrastructure Minister Warren Truss says.
“Esperance Port is now in a good position to be a competitive player in the import/export market, and will help Western Australia’s economy continue to thrive.”
Western Australia and the Federal Government split the cost of the project, which involved realigning railway and road infrastructure and building two new rail crossings, a bridge, a road tunnel and a bridge connection.
