A driver management system that tracks delivery drivers has earned TNT Express Australia an award for innovation.
The 2012 Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China (APJC) Smart Services Awards have honoured TNT Express with an innovation in achievement of operational excellence award.
According to TNT Express, Cisco recognised TNT Express Australia’s
On Road Driver Management (ORDM) system, which
allows the company’s depots to monitor delivery driver movements during shifts.
The ORDM system works by tracking drivers with a compact handheld GPS unit, which is also used as a code scanning and hands-free communication device with ‘push-to-talk’ capability.
Depot operators can then monitor delivery and pick-up data in real-time on control room screens and can warn drivers of heavy traffic or road obstructions.
TNT Express was given the award
following logistics services provided
to Cisco, which supplies network solutions to Australian telecommunications companies.
Announcing the award today, TNT Express Australia Managing Director Bob Black says the ORDM system
helped
TNT
meet Cisco’s needs.
“This is a proud moment for TNT Express Australia, as we have worked extremely hard to refine our processes and implement ORDM, helping Cisco meet its objectives for efficient order delivery,” Black says in a statement.
“Our Banksmeadow warehouse in New South Wales serves as a fully integrated system for Cisco, including new and returned parts stock, and we have 44 forward stock locations to ensure efficient network supply.”
TNT Express was the Australia and New Zealand winner in the Vendor category.
