Global port operator DP World has announced the launch of a new container management system that is set to enhance efficiency at its Port of Brisbane terminal.
In collaboration with OneStop, DP World is about to begin using innovative management solution OptiBook at its Fisherman Island Terminal in Brisbane.
DP World says the system reduces dwell times, optimises truck utilisation and promotes a safer and more sustainable supply chain.
OneStop’s OptiBook, which is an extension of the vehicle booking system, is scheduled to go live on Thursday July 10.
For transport operators, it’s set to result in a smoother and more efficient container booking experience where they can manage all of their containers from a single intuitive screen via the platform.
“This is part of a broader strategy to enhance our overall offering at our terminal in Brisbane, the key trade hub to facilitate flow of goods at the core of Queensland’s economy,” DP World Oceania executive vice president Nicolaj Noes says.
“Our team will work with OneStop to ensure our customers are properly onboarded onto the new platform, to access a faster and more efficient booking experience.”
Initially, DP World Fisherman Island will operate OptiBook at the vessel level to ensure a smooth transition.
The management system has been designed to work seamlessly with existing VBS processes, meaning operators can continue to book, manifest and manage stack runs as usual, now just with an added benefit of enhanced visibility on the container list screen.
This improved view includes hold status, estimated discharge and storage start dates, as well as a new notify me feature.
“The transition to OptiBook marks an important step in delivering greater visibility and efficiency across the supply chain,” OneStop CEO Sam Askin says.
“With enhanced visibility via the Container List screen, operators gain clearer oversight and greater control of their workflows. In addition, carriers will soon benefit from improved access to booking and manifest information, along with real-time communication through the OneStop Deliver App.
“We appreciated the opportunity to walk industry through the upcoming system enhancements during our recent familiarisation session with DP World.”
