Diesel prices continues to rise

Diesel prices rose in the week ended June 28 by a national average of 1.2 cents per litre

Diesel prices rose in the week ended June 28 by a national average of 1.2 cents per litre, according to terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum.

The AIP data is based on information provided by BP Australia, Caltex, Shell Australia and ExxonMobil.

Prices in all states excluding Darwin hovered around the 118 to 119 cents per litre mark throughout the week, keeping in line with similar rises over the last few weeks.

Melbourne continued to be the cheapest place in the country for diesel, averaging 118.3 cents for the week.

Despite the single cent rise from the previous week, it remained slightly cheaper than Brisbane, which averaged 118.5 cents.

Diesel in Sydney and Adelaide was slightly more expensive, the former finishing the week with an average of 118.6 cents per litre, while the South Australian capital had an average price of 118.8 cents per litre.

Darwin topped the list with an average diesel price of 123 cents per litre- 3.5 cents higher than Perth which finished as the second most expensive city at 119.5 cents a litre.
