Augmented reality glasses set for distribution in Australian warehouses
Automated technology powerhouse Dematic has recently added another high-tech product line, becoming a distributor of Vuzix Smart Glasses in Australia and New Zealand.
The Vuzix M300 Smart Glasses are a wearable computer for warehouses and distribution centres that combine features of a barcode scanner, voice picking system and vision picking system.
They’re designed for tasks such as picking orders, inventory replenishment and inventory cycle counting.
The Android-based device also has a 10 megapixel camera and 1080p video that records, stores and plays back video and still pictures.
It features an nHD monocular display and Intel processor, large internal storage and wireless connectivity capabilities.
Dematic’s director of Real Time Logistics, Brian Lang, expects the glasses provide versatility in the workplace and help supply chain customers achieve “operation excellence.”
“Including the Vuzix Smart Glasses in the Dematic portfolio of solutions creates more choices for customers and can optimise their order fulfilment.”
Paul Travers, CEO and president of Vuzix, says, “Vuzix is excited to partner with market-leading integrator, Dematic, to deliver our innovative M300 Smart Glasses to supply chain operators across Australia and New Zealand.”
“The smart glasses are proven to deliver productivity and accuracy gains, while reducing training time in supply chain operations.
“Dematic is the perfect partner to integrate this industry-winning technology into their clients’ complex and demanding logistics operations.”
The internal computer is made by Toshiba, and battery life is expected to last an eight-hour shift.
Bluetooth connectivity allows the glasses to be paired with other Android devices.
The glasses are designed to be resistant to water, dust and dirt and feature a variety of mounting options.
