DB Schenker has been named exclusive international transport and logistics services provider for Perth 2011 World Championships starting December 3, 2011.

Schenker Australia, the Australian-based branch of the leading global logistics provider DB Schenker will move hundreds of yachts from all around the world into Perth for the ISAF 2011 event.

According to Schenker Australia CEO Ron Koehler sailing teams competing in international sports events have trusted DB SCHENKERsportsevents for many years.

“We are proud to be associated with such high-class events and the trust Perth 2011 and its participants have in DB Schenker’s services to deliver their equipment safely and on time,” Koehler says.

The Schenker team will import equipment from all around the globe – including those nations competing at European events prior to Perth 2011.

Perth 2011 Chief Operating Officer Darren Beazley says he is delighted to have such a strong team on board.

“The movement of all the sailing equipment for the World Championships is such a huge undertaking so it was necessary for Perth 2011 to team up with the leaders in this industry, to ensure that everything is moved quickly and easily from overseas and arrives here intact,” he says

Schenker Australia has a long-standing history in the transportation of sailing boats and other sports equipment. Last year, DB Schenker handled the Perth Regatta with great professionalism and dedication.

“Whether it’s by ocean, air, road or rail, the DB SCHENKERsportsevents team will get it there on time and without any issues,” Beazley says.

“They have a proven track record in offering these vital services, already providing the logistics for similar sailing events, including previous Volvo Ocean Races and Sail Melbourne events.”

Perth 2011 is the main qualifier for the sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“DB Schenker also provided the freight forwarding and customs clearance for several Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Ron Koehler adds.

“The depth of expertise and specialisation is evident in the fact that DB Schenker has a dedicated and highly specialised team to manage logistics for major sporting events, such as the Olympics, World Cups, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and more.”
