DAF has used the IAA truck show in Germany to unveil its new Euro 6 XF105 prime mover

DAF has used the IAA truck show in Germany to unveil its new Euro 6 XF105 prime mover, with the new-look cab complimenting the Euro 6 version of the Paccar 12.9 litre MX engine.
The dramatic new look of the new XF provides a visible leap forward over the previous incarnation of the XF105.
The MX engine uses selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to meet Euro 6 regulations.
The common-rail injected, variable-geometry turbo engine now uses a catalytic converter in conjunction with an active diesel particulate filter (DPF) for emissions control.
DAF claims the system keeps exhaust temperature at the optimum level to avoid the need for active regeneration of the DPF.
The revised engine will be available in three ratings: 300kW, 340kW and 375kW, with a torque range spanning from 2,000Nm to 2,500Nm.
Production is expected to start in early 2013 for the European market.
