CTI rents energy-efficient Melbourne warehouse

Five year lease follows 2017 acquisition of Jayde Transport’s interstate business

Perth-based CTI Logistics has signed a five year lease worth $1.1 million per annum for a warehouse and distribution centre in the Melbourne suburb of Truganina, four months after acquiring the Melbourne operations of Jayde Transport.

According to property firm Knight Frank, the new facility has a floor area of 15,227 square metres and includes a 36 metre wide awning, a 10 metre springing height, a sprinkler system and a full double compliant hardstand area.

It was also designed to achieve a 5-star Green Star Rating resulting in reduced operating costs for the tenant, with Knight Frank Victoria director of industrial sales and leasing Joel Davy saying there had been a surge of interest from tenants in energy efficient infrastructure.

“Large warehouses operate 24 hours a day, and with electricity costs getting higher, tenants are spending a lot more on outgoings,” he said.

Last year Toll Group won the award for Best Industrial Energy Efficiency Project at the National Energy Efficiency Awards after reducing energy use following the rewiring and reprogramming of its 2.5km conveyor system.

CTI acquired the Victorian and South Australian operations of fellow Western Australian company Jayde Transport for $7.5 million in October last year, with the last $1 million of that sum scheduled to be paid on April 30.
