Transport industry veteran Howard Croxon is stepping down as Chair of Australia’s Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (CILTA).

After two years at the helm, Croxon announced he will resign at the peak international
logistics body’s recent Australian awards night.

CILTA CEO Hal Morris tells SCR Croxon has led a period of unprecedented growth for CILTA, with membership jumping by more than 20 percent.

“Corporate support has doubled and the organisation has rolled out programs that involve individuals in their industry, keep them informed, recognise their skills as well as excellence in the industry and support development of their careers,” Morris says.

At the core of Croxon’s leadership has been his commitment to make CILTA the ‘go to’ organisation for professionals in Transport and Logistics.

“He has lifted the quality and relevance of what the organisation does and has put particular emphasis on building a sustainable association,” Morris says.

Former Chair of Queensland’s Small Business Corporation, Andrew Stewart FCILT, MAICD will take over the role.

A company director and investor, Stewart has owned and developed several businesses, including PSA Media which from 1979 to 2007 was Australasia’s largest print and online publisher in the transport and logistics sectors.

His business Stewart Constructions primarily constructed facilities in the food processing, logistics and education sectors in NSW, Queensland and Northern Territory.

Stewart has also been a member of the federal Transport Logistics Action Agenda which provided a supply chain reform agenda for Australia in 2001.

“Andrew comes to the role with a wealth of experience at the national and state level in our industry,” Morris says.

“He is a successful businessman who has had an enduring commitment to the encouragement and support of young professionals.”
