Global automation integrator Cimcorp has appointed Simon Hester as Australia and New Zealand regional director, gearing up to lead an automation push across Oceania.
Hester’s varied career includes roles related to the rail, telecommunications, logistics, public health, and nonprofits both in Australia and the UK. With a background in logistics and automation, Hester brings experience from both the customer and supplier side of large-scale container terminal projects.
Hester says his varied background has prepared him for the lessons the new role as regional director is bound to bring.
“Having moved into new industries before, I’ve always found the steep learning curve both challenging and exciting,” he says.
“Once I’ve got the basics, I’ve found many opportunities to leverage my experience from other industries.”
Cimcorp is a global automation integrator that designs, builds, and implements intralogistics solutions for a variety of industries, primarily focusing on the retail, food & beverage, tire, and postal services sectors.
The automation of grocery distribution centres is gaining traction in Australia, driven by operational benefits such as improved ergonomics, reduced waste, and consistent product quality. In his new role, Hester sees potential for further growth within the sector.
“Cimcorp has a unique approach to efficient packing of pallets with a mixture of grocery products, and I look forward to sharing this story with prospective clients,” Hester says.
“Currently, Cimcorp has no permanent presence locally in Australia or New Zealand, and we need to show the market that we are committed to building a sustainable business in the Oceania region.”
Hester’s plans include setting up a reference site and building a mixed team of local employees, experts from HQ, and local partner organisations. He hopes to support the sales team explore opportunities with all the supermarket chains in major cities in Australia and New Zealand.
