Chartered Institiute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) International Secretary General Bernard Auton heads to our shores

The Australian visit, to take place in mid February 2011 is intended to allow Auton, a British logistics and supply chain industry veteran, to meet with Australian industry, government and university leaders.

He is hoping to develop an understanding of local issues, network and raise the CILT profile in the lead up to the
peak organisation’s
International Convention to be held in Sydney in May 2011.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Australia (CILTA) is proud of its reputation as the one truly international organisation representing members across all States and Territories of Australia, across all transport modes and across the full spectrum of T&L including passenger transport as well as freight logistics and supply chain management.

CILTA is the Australian Chapter of the International institute and is hosting the 2011 Convention.

CILT was established in the UK in 1919, and operational in Australia since 1935, CILTA is part of a worldwide membership of over 33,000 members and more than 200 key corporations across some 30 countries.

The principal objective of CILTA is to promote and encourage the art and science of logistics and transport.

It provides leadership in research, policy and professional development and support continuous improvement in the industry.

The International CILT Convention is held once each year and brings together leaders from the 36 CILT Countries from around the world as well as local delegates.

In 2011 CILT International Convention will be held 1-5 May at the Sydney Marriott.

This is the first time that such a major CILT International event has been held in Australia and is a great opportunity for Australian companies to profile their T&L know-how at an international level.

It is also an opportunity for Australian Industry and Government leaders to meet with senior leaders of T&L from around the world.

The Convention program includes
• Welcome from CILTA’s patron, the Governor General
• Meetings of the International Council and its various sub committees
• A young professionals program
• A partner’s program
• Launch of the Australian Supply Chain Innovation Alliance. This
initiative has the support of 23 Universities and tertiary institutions in Australia.
• The Annual President’s Dinner on a luxury ship in Sydney Harbour
