History has been made for the longstanding Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Australia (CILTA), with the body’s first woman national chair being appointed.
The first woman national chair to be appointed in the institute’s 91-year history is Karyn Welsh.
She brings extensive national leadership experience to the role across logistics, transport, compliance and sector transformation.
As the CEO and national manager of CILTA, Welsh has played a key role in strengthening industry standards, modernising accreditation frameworks and driving digital innovation across the supply chain.
The institute says Welsh’s work has been instrumental in advancing the CLOCS-A Standard, developing scalable compliance pathways and championing equitable access for operators of all sizes.
In her new role as national chair, Welsh will lead CILTA’s strategic direction, governance and national engagement with industry, academia and government. She’ll also continue advocating for safer, more efficient and more sustainable transport and logistics systems while supporting the professional development of the nation’s transport, logistics and supply chain workforce.
“Karyn’s appointment reflects her long‑standing commitment to excellence, collaboration and sector‑wide improvement,” CILTA says.
“Under her leadership, CILT Australia will continue to strengthen its role as the peak professional body for logistics and transport, supporting innovation, capability uplift and national consistency across the industry.
“CILT Australia extends its sincere thanks to outgoing national chair Doug Golden for his dedicated leadership and service. Doug has guided the institute with integrity, stability and a deep commitment to the profession.
“His contribution has strengthened CILTA’s national presence and positioned the organisation for continued growth. We are grateful for his stewardship and ongoing support of the institute and its members.”
