Car-carrier CEVA Logistics has not yet determined the impact Ford’s decision to end its Australian manufacturing business will have on it.
CEVA manages a small operation for Ford, which announced last week it would be closing its Broadmeadows and Geelong plants in October 2016.
Ford’s announcement caught CEVA unaware, with Marketing and Communications General Manager David Cliffe saying the company was not given any notification of its plans.
“While the company is saddened by Ford’s decision, it is too early to determine how the decision to close operations by late 2016 may or may not impact CEVA and its employees working on the company’s Ford contract,” Cliffe says.
“CEVA is committed to continuing to provide Ford with the high quality service for which CEVA is renowned.”
Ford announced last Thursday it would shut its Victorian plants just over three years from now, putting in jeopardy 1, 200 jobs.
