Certifiers appointed to oversee NorthConnex project design

App Corporation and Hyder Consulting will be required to review and verify the design and construction of the project.

Two infrastructure services firms have been appointed to review and certify the design and construction of the NorthConnex road project in New South Wales.

APP and Hyder Consulting have been appointed to do the independent certification for the project, which comprises 9km of tolled twin tunnels, new interchanges on the M2 and Pacific motorways, ventilation stations, road widening and a motorway control centre.

Construction will begin this month February and the entire project is due to be built in September 2019. Once complete, NorthConnex will link the Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at the Pennant Hills Road interchange at West Pennant Hills.

APP Corporation and Hyder Consulting will be required to review and verify the design and construction of the tunnels and associated infrastructure to make sure it is built in accordance to contractual requirements.

Arcadis Australia Pacific, which took over Hyder in October last year, says Hyder is pleased to be involved in the project.

“This appointment builds on our experience with independent verification services across Australia. We are looking forward to being part of this project that will greatly improve the road network in Sydney,” Arcadis Australia Pacific CEO Greg Steele says.
