Centurion nabs huge Century Mining logistics deal

Century Mine and Karumba Port haulage contract worth about $25 million

Resources-focused haulage firm Centurion has been awarded a multi-year, $25 million contract by Century Mining Limited (CML) to provide logistics services to the Century Mine and Karumba Port facilities in northern Queensland.

Its responsibilities will include customs clearance, wharf collections of import commodities, warehousing, road transport, air freight and courier services.

A dedicated road-train fleet with a mix of trailing equipment will cater for the movement of bulk reagents, general freight and grinding media, all of which is required for the mine and port facilities’ daily operations.

Centurion will use a national road network to consolidate freight in northern Queensland, including through Centurion’s Townsville branch, complemented by dedicated daily services to the Century Mine and Karumba Port.

“We are excited to support CML on a national scale,” Centurion CEO Justin Cardaci says.

“Centurion’s end-to-end logistics solutions, proprietary tracking systems and nationwide branch network enable us to tailor and adapt to CML’s specific requirements and provide visibility through out every step of the service.”

CML, a wholly-owned subsidiary of listed firm New Century Resources, operates the Century Mine, extracting zinc concentrate, and Karumba Port facility, to export bulk concentrate to customers globally.

Centurion will start operations around February.

Two weeks ago, it announced the opening of its newest branch in Townsville, at 8-9 Hubie Taylor Place, to help service clients throughout northern Queensland.
