BYD’s very own vessel has completed its historic maiden voyage to Australia, docking at the Port of Melbourne filled with new BYD electric vehicles.
The BYD ZHENGZHOU arrived in Melbourne recently, with customers able to watch their BYD and DENZA vehicles roll off the first ever BYD-owned and operated car-carrying vessel to reach Australian shores.
These customers were among the 200-strong VIPs, industry leaders, BYD and DENZA dealers and staff celebrating the milestone moment at the Port of Melbourne, where 1,855 of the 4,809 new energy vehicles aboard the BYD ZHENGZHOU were unloaded.
The vessel is next headed for Sydney, where a further 1,519 BYD and DENZA vehicles will roll off, with the remaining 1,435 bound for Brisbane.
BYD says approximately three of every four vehicles that sailed on the BYD ZHENGZHOU are sold, ready to fill customer orders, which spiked for battery-powered and co-powered electric vehicles in March and April as fuel prices skyrocketed and cost-of-living pressures hit most Australians.
BYD says the arrival of the vessel is a tangible representation of BYD’s long-term commitment to Australia and backing its promise to deliver 30,000 vehicles to Australian customers across April, May and June.
The company says it will continue to send its owned roll-on roll-off (RORO) vessels to Australia as required, if it means delivering cars to waiting customers as soon as possible.
