Bruce Highway to face heavy vehicles restrictions

There will be mass restrictions in place for Oversize overmass (OSOM) Heavy Load Platform vehicles with a limit of 12 tonnes per axle line on the Bruce Highway at Raglan Creek Bridge, starting from October 20, 2025.

This has been advised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), who also notify that general freight vehicles (for example, B-doubles) and Special Purpose Vehicles (like heavy mobile cranes), are not impacted by these restrictions.

Some low-loaders, particularly those associated with windfarm moves, may exceed the 12-tonne-per-axle-line limit. Operators of these vehicles must refer to the Condition of Operations Database (COOD) for specific details and ensure compliance with the set conditions.

Access over Raglan Creek bridge will be allowed under permit with load restrictions and set conditions to ensure the continued integrity and safety of the structures.

Heavy vehicle operators requiring permits for travel or with existing permits travelling this section of the Bruce Highway, must refer to the Condition of Operations Database prior to their journey for current operating conditions to ensure compliance.

Equipment has been installed to support the live monitoring of all approved loads to facilitate compliance and safety.

For the ongoing safety of all road users, restrictions will be implemented. If companies fail to follow strict conditions, permits will be revoked. To help reinforce this messaging and the need for compliance, TMR will undertake targeted communication with key vehicle operators.

Ensure that you stay up to date as Queensland’s roads, bridges and culverts are continuously monitored, and conditions can change quickly, particularly due to weather.
