Bruce Highway receives maintenance works

Motorists are being advised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) that asphalt pavement maintenance works have commenced on the Bruce Highway between Hunter Street and Port Road.

With works beginning just yesterday (Sunday November 9), they will continue until Thursday November 13 between 7pm and 5am, with all construction subject to weather conditions.

Road users can expect the following changed traffic conditions during these works:

  • Single lane closures and moderate delays
  • The maximum delay to traffic shall be one five minute period, except for sealing works as determined in conjunction with the Superintendent, where the maximum delay to traffic shall be five (15) minutes
  • Speed restrictions
  • Noise associated with the use of heavy machinery
  • Traffic controllers will be onsite during active construction hours to direct traffic
  • Access to all properties is to remain open at all times
  • Two-way traffic shall be maintained throughout the entire site, out of work hours
  • Once maintenance works are completed motorists may notice traffic management signs still in place until all works including line marking, pavement markers and signs are reinstated
  • Advanced warning signs will also be in place on approach to the work area, notifying road users of the changed conditions

It is advised that road users drive carefully through the roadwork zones, follow the direction of traffic controllers and adhere to reduced speed limits.

In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, activities will be rescheduled for the next available shift.

For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions and restricted access measures under the coordination of traffic controllers when required.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware in advance of the changed traffic conditions.
