Graham Kraehe will leave his post as chairman of Brambles after six years in the role
Brambles chairman Graham Kraehe will leave the logistics group this September.
Kraehe joined the company as a non-executive director in 2000. He retired in 2004 but came back a year later, taking up the chairman role in 2008.
Stephen Johns has been appointed as chairman-elect.
“It has been a privilege to serve as chairman of Brambles and to have been associated with the group over the past 14 years,” Kraehe says.
“During that time, Brambles has changed from an industrial conglomerate structure to become a focused company that is the global leader in its space.
“As one of Australia’s most international companies, we have direct operations in more than 50 countries, customers in many more countries, a network of approximately 850 service centres and a market capitalisation of $14 billion,” he adds.
Kraehe says he will leave behind a strong board and a well-run company with a clear strategy.
Johns has praised Kraehe for his time as chairman, saying he helped transform the company.
“Key achievements include the expansion of our reusable produce crate and container business, the growth of our CHEP business into emerging markets and the de-merger of Recall,” Johns says.
“At the same time, Graham has overseen the strengthening and diversification of the skills and capabilities of the board.”
Brian Long, who was recently appointed as non-executive director, will succeed Johns as chairman of Brambles’ audit committee
