Three boys in New South Wales caught hurling rocks at a truck on the Carnarvon Highway have been cautioned for their actions.

NSW Police warned the boys, aged nine, 12 and 13 after all three admitted to throwing rocks at a truck travelling from Mungindi towards Moree on May 29 about 4.30pm.

A rock chipped the windscreen of the truck.

Police attended the scene a short time later and located two of the three boys hiding in bushes nearby.

The two boys were taken to a local police station, and the third boy was identified shortly after. The three boys were issued with a formal caution under the Young Offenders Act.
