Bowen goes as NTCA executive director

The Northern Territory Cattleman’s Association is searching for a new executive director after Luke Bowen resigned from the role.

Livestock industry veteran Luke Bowen has stepped down as the executive director of the Northern Territory Cattleman’s Association (NTCA).

Bowen leaves after six years in the role. Tracy Hayes is the organisation’s acting CEO but has declined to take the job permanently due to family commitments, President David Warriner says.

Bowen announced his intentions to the association’s board six months ago.

“We knew it was coming so we are pretty well positioned going forward,” Warriner says.

“We have a very good membership base and a group of executives there and that gives whoever it is a good platform to work from.

“If you don’t have that support base it’s very difficult for the executive officers or CEOs of organisations that don’t have a very good platform to be confident to go out and do things.”

Warriner says Bowen has helped grow the NTCA’s profile in Australia, and adds that the industry now needs to focus on Asia.

“We’ve got Asia developing away, there’s certainly opportunity in those markets and we need to grasp those opportunities more effectively than we have been,” he says.
