Changes on the way for tech team at Volvo Group

The first of September will mark a big change for the Volvo Group as Group Chief Technology Officer Lars Stenqvist steps out of the role he has held for the past nine years.

Stenqvist has been a driving force in the Group’s pioneering journey towards sustainable transport solutions.

He will remain with Volvo Group after September in a yet-to-be declared senior position.

His CTO role will be filled by Jens Holtinger, who currently holds a position as a member of the Executive Board and as Executive Vice President Group Truck Operations.

Volvo Group President and CEO Martin Lundstedt was upbeat about the changes.

“Lars, in his leadership role, has been instrumental in the Group’s positive development and a pioneer on the journey towards more sustainable transport,” Lundstedt says.

“I deeply value the significant contributions he has made over the years.”

Lundstedt says the future is in good hands with Holtinger who brings with him more than 25 years experience in Volvo Group across a number of positions, including roles overseeing truck manufacturing in Europe and Brazil.

“With his extensive experience across the entire value chain, Jens will bring valuable perspectives that support our continued focus on innovation and operational excellence,” Lundstedt says.

“His steady leadership and industry insight will be important as we continue to develop solutions that meet evolving needs.”

Stenqvist took to his LinkedIn profile to say he is looking forward to a less hectic future.

“Trust me. There is no conflict, no soon-to-burst scandal or any health reasons behind this decision. It is about integrity and being true to myself,” he says.

“I have been running big industrial organisations for decades, both in production and R&D, and I have loved every minute of it! These roles have been fantastic and rewarding in so many dimensions, but it’s tough “being a marine” and I have always promised myself to step out of operational roles well before I retire.

“I plan to keep working for many years, but in non-operational roles, being able to give back and share my experience from more than thirty years in this fantastic industry.”
