Brisbane-based innovation company Black Moth has announced it arrival, targeting road transport and heavy industries with its Black Moth vision system.
The company, which began designing the solution in 2012, says its “products and services help to reduce operational risk and improve worksite safety,” by tackling restricted visibility – “one of the biggest challenges operators of heavy machinery face.”
The vision system offers “360-degree visibility without blind spots,” BlackMoth says, and, for monitoring or investigative purposes, the solution allows fleet operators to remotely retrieve capture footage on demand.
Designed and manufactured in Brisbane, Black Moth CEO Scott Gemmell says the solution was made to meet the requirements of vehicles working through demanding environments.
“We are proud to offer ‘made in Australia’ products and each of them reflect our emphasis on quality materials and premium workmanship,” he says.
Field tested for temperature, vibration and the Ingress Protection (IP) standard, the Black Moth system is “extremely rugged and durable,” the company says, capable to “withstand the toughest conditions.”
Part of the test came through a 2014 partnership with J.J. Richards & Sons, the largest privately owned waste management company in Australia, which had a need for a suitable operational computer platform, combined with a powerful vision system for their fleet of over 1,500 vehicles.
“Our systems underwent intensive testing and field trialling across Australia and New Zealand over the past 18 months,” Gemmell says.
“J.J. Richards & Sons’ fleet gives us a large proving ground for our products, which is a competitive advantage and customers directly benefit from it.
“By using a live test fleet we ensure our sophisticated products are proven and market-ready before we release them.”
J.J. Richards & Sons CIO Matthew Schoemaker says the vision system is now part of its activities.
“The Black Moth vision system represents the ultimate solution to our problems,” he says.
“We finally have a system that not only has all of the features and capabilities we are looking for but combines them into one integrated system – including the ability to run our own operational software.”
