The new Road Safety Data Hub website has officially gone live and will help all Australian states and territories get on the same page about the standing of road safety across the country.
The finalisation of a new Funding Agreement between states, territories and the Commonwealth has seen the hub go live, where a range of road data including information about fatalities, hospitalisations, police enforcement and analysis of crash risk will be available.
The site will be used by governments to ascertain which areas are in most need of additional road safety funding.
It can be accessed and used by anyone, with the data to be provided in a searchable catalogue on data.gov.au or through the Road Safety Data Hub website.
Submission forms for public feedback on the site and links to other road safety websites are also available.
“We want people to get home safely after each and every trip, and better data access is a critical part of our commitment to improving the safety of the nation’s transport networks,” Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King says.
“The new Road Safety Data Hub website which is live from today will have data available and will be a valuable resource for not only governments, but all interested in road safety.
“A clear picture, underpinned by data, about where best to target road safety funding will save lives and ensure we are investing in the projects that will make the biggest difference.”
