An Australian baby brand is going global courtesy of a partnership with FedEx as it looks to break into the high-stakes European holiday market.
Australian mum-of-three Belinda Appleby founded Bundl Australia in 2019 after struggling to find high-quality and organic baby products for her own firstborn. Her passion for responsibly sourced and manufactured products quickly revealed a rising demand for such infant essentials.
Beginning with a single product, the innovative Wool Wrap, packed and shipped from Belinda’s dining room table, Bundl has since expanded to offer more than 30 premium baby products. This worldwide demand has led Bundl to significant milestones, rapidly elevating its international presence across markets including the Netherlands, the UK, Canada and the USA.
This drive for global expansion by Bundl reflects a trend among Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) increasingly looking to diversify globally. According to the recent FedEx APAC-Europe study from September last year, 71 per cent of surveyed Australian businesses reported increased trade with Europe over the past year, with nearly one-third (30 per cent) seeing growth of more than 10 per cent.
This confidence is reflected in the outlook, as 61 per cent of the surveyed Australian businesses stated their perception of trade with Europe has improved in the past year.
The UK (50 per cent), Germany (28 per cent) and France (27 per cent) remain top European trade destinations for the surveyed Australian businesses.
Global expansion brought Bundl new opportunities and new challenges. During peak e-commerce seasons, inconsistent delivery times and high transportation costs threatened to derail growth.
“It wasn’t until I needed a fast and reliable solution for a large stockist in the Netherlands that I signed up with FedEx. Its ability to offer timely international shipping, combined with very competitive rates, made it the ideal choice for us,” Belinda says.
Working with FedEx, Bundl was able to streamline its shipment processes and increase efficiency with FedEx solutions and services.
FedEx became a critical transportation provider, offering delivery solutions to help Bundl as it continues to expand internationally directly addressing their core transportation challenges, optimising both shipping speed and cost-effectiveness.
“The transparent tracking, timely international shipping, and flexible FedEx solutions honestly make our work so much faster and a fair bit easier,” Belinda says.
Bundl leverages FedEx solutions to meet its growing overseas customer demand with ease. Solutions like FedEx® International Connect Plus (FICP) offer fast, reliable delivery across Europe, North America and Asia. Streamlined customs processes, electronic trade documents (where available) and label automation through FedEx Ship Manager® enhances operational efficiency, helping the Bundl team focus more resources on product development, seasonal releases and customer experience.
“The FedEx team cares as much as we do about customer satisfaction. Our passion for baby wellbeing and more sustainable baby products at Bundl has reached more homes around the world than we could have ever imagined,” Belinda says.
