Australia’s last-mile delivery and logistics sector pumps up into overdrive come the holiday period, and Australia Post has already begun preparations for a busy Christmas and New Year by recruiting around 3000 seasonal casual workers in the lead up to the holiday.
This year’s seasonal recruitment drive is focused on finding skilled workers, including van and truck drivers and forklift operators, as well as freight handlers and parcel sorters.
Roles are available across all Australia’s states and territories, with the highest demand in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Australia Post Executive General Manager of People and Culture Sue Davies says seasonal casuals play a critical role in ensuring deliveries reach customers in time for Christmas.
“Last year we delivered almost 100 million parcels in the lead up to Christmas thanks to the help of our seasonal casuals who worked alongside our existing team members,” Davies says.
“As we approach our busiest time of the year, we’re looking to bolster our workforce to ensure we can meet increased demand and maintain the high level of service Australians expect from Australia Post.
“We’d love to hear from people who have a valid forklift or truck licence, as well as people looking to work in parcel processing, deliveries and freight handling.”
